An elliptical cross trainer with computer is a great way of making sure you get the perfect workout from the comfort of your own home every time. Gone are the days where you’d have to time your own workout – with today’s modern computer systems you can be working out to set programs and see how many calories you’ve burned.

In this article I’ll be going through some of the things that you should think about carefully before you buy any sort of fitness equipment including an elliptical cross trainer with built in computer.

Why a cross trainer?

Cross trainers are becoming more and more popular because they provide you with a way to get fit and exercise many different parts of your body without having to worry about doing a high impact sport. Because your arms and legs are both in use a cross trainer burns calories much quicker than other forms of exercise and does so in a way that minimises the risk of hurting your body.

Having a cross trainer in your own home will make it even easier to make sure you get a good workout every time. You need to be careful not to overdo things as this can cause injuries which will hamper your profess, but in general if you do a few 20-30 minute sessions a week you will start to see a difference in your overall aerobic fitness levels.

Buying an elliptical cross trainer

There are in general two different types of cross trainer – the belt cross trainer and the magnetic cross trainer. In many cases the belt is a more basic option but also cheaper. It will provide you with a good workout although it won’t be able to offer the same range of options as a magnetic. This is because a magnetic cross trainer uses a magnet to provide different levels of resistance hence allowing you to have a wider range of exercise programs. In many cases the magnetic version will also be a lot quieter.

You need to make sure that you have enough space the cross trainer you’re buying before purchasing it. As far as exercise machines go, cross trainers are quite small and won’t take up a lot of room but you still need to take a measurement.

You should also probably buy a pair of shoes that are specially built for lots of ankle movement – running shoes generally aren’t and you may be more at risk of getting injuries.
